Over the last few years the global move towards the Internet of Things (IoT) has not only been aimed at domestic consumers, but at industry as well. This has resulted in businesses embracing the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) and Industry 4.0. Management has started recognizing the ever increasing importance of having fast, accurate and reliable data directly from the factory floor at their fingertips. This has resulted in an increase in productivity through the identification of bottlenecks in the system as well as better management decision making since the decisions being made are now based on better data sets than in the past.

Until recently, irrespective of the industry involved, production reporting has always been a challenge. This was mainly due to the fact that the components needed to deliver a proper production reporting system were not available yet. Automation controllers on the factory floor or in manufacturing plants could always collect the required production information, but the hardware to interface these controllers with the outside world was cumbersome at best. In addition to that, even if you did manage to collect the data and get it into some kind of database, disseminating it quickly and efficiently posed its own challenges. With the IIoT revolution, this has started to change.

Now when we see clients that are collecting production information with clipboards and whiteboards on the factory floor we can confidently tell them that there’s a better way!

OUR SERVICES

Production Reporting has taken all the hardware and software components and created a system that solves the automated production reporting problem. A simple, secure hardware device is installed on site and it sends production data (via LAN or cellular network) to a cloud based database. The database is hosted in a 99.9% uptime guaranteed facility. Once the production information is in the database, the following 3 services are made available to the client:

Dashboards

Dashboards are created that connect to the cloud based database and display production information on any web enabled device in real time (dashboards can also be tailored for production displays on the factory floor or monitors in a boardroom).

Email and/or SMS notifications can be created to notify management or maintenance personnel when production milestones are achieved or when critical production components are experiencing downtime.

Reports

Production reports are automatically emailed to designated people every morning detailing the previous day’s production figures. Shift information or month-to-date data can also easily be reported.
